It is easy to take many things for granted when we have been born and raised in this great
nation. The attitude that we deserve certain things, and that the world owes us something, can
easily set in causing us to lose our thankfulness and motivation to get up each day and make
the world a better place to live.
We have the opportunity here at Spring Valley Farms to work with people from other countries
and those that are immigrating to bring their wives and children to make this country home.
It is interesting to work with them and see the motivation with which they come. It is clear they
have a dream, that it is not just about money, they have paid a price to take this step.
Brian Buffini in his book The Immigrants Edge states that immigrants come with seven traits.
- They want to learn.
- Do whatever it takes.
- Willing to outwork others.
- Heart of gratitude and willing to say thank you.
- Boldness to invest.
- Willing to delay gratification.
- Always remember where they came from.
We as US citizens have a lot to be thankful for and would do well if we applied these traits to our
own lives!
